Incorporating Yoga into the Classroom

Description:

The goal of this workshop is to provide educators with the tools to seamlessly incorporate the foundations of yoga within the daily routines of instruction and classroom management. These foundations include meditation, self-inquiry, and the physical yoga practices.

Participants will engage in an adult yoga class based around self-inquiry in order to develop classroom goals and ideas for the incorporation of yoga into daily routines.  The workshop will also present the latest research about yoga in schools and provide information about how the effects of the simplest use of breath and body movement can change the day of any student.  Kid-themed classroom activities will be introduced and discussed.  Teachers will develop their own list of meditation topics and learn how to thoroughly develop a topic that will create a fun-filled flow for students in their classrooms.

Participants should come ready to practice what you teach by bringing a water bottle, notebook and writing utensil. Mats will be provided but feel free to bring your own.

The workshop will be presented by Sam Notos.
Ms. Notos holds a BS in Education  from the University of Delaware, an MAED in Special Education from Stockton University, and is currently a middle school teacher in Wildwood. Ms. Notos is a yoga instructor in Galloway.
